"I was born in Stamford, Connecticut in 1960. I was studying film and video at Hampshire College when I took some time off to live in Berkeley, California. It was at this time that I began to experience the roots of my artistic direction. I yearned to experience and create a form of expression far more primal than I felt I was able to create with film or video. I returned to Hampshire and finished my studies in Oil Painting. My paintings from this period were dark and shadowy expressionist works. I moved to Bridgton, Maine in 1984 and lived in a country farmhouse for eleven years. My work still was formed with expressionist strokes but in this period brighter colors replaced much of the darkness of my earlier works. In 1995 I moved to Portland, Maine. Since 2004 I have returned to being very active in the studio. While my newest work still has expressionism as it roots it is created in a much simpler, minimalist style with a pop sensibility to it. I have been challenged and inspired by my daughter Kasmira who at a very young age has shown incredible talent as a painter."
